Phone Number No-No
Roary Scrawl here and BOY, oh BOY is my little sister Lori in trouble! She asked her friend from school for her telephone number in a Pinboard message and the Moshi Staff sent her a warning.
It might be tempting to share your personal information with trusted friends online, even if you know them in real life, but as Lori's learning now, it's not worth it in the end. After our parents got the email warning from Moshi, Lori fessed up and learned some important facts about sharing personal information online:
* Everything is public. Once you type a message to someone, anyone can see it! Never send details that you wouldn't want a stranger to view.
* Reporting to Moshi Staff is anonymous. Lori tried to blame her friend for reporting her to Moshi Staff, but guess what? All reports are anonymous in Moshi Monsters. Anyone that saw her post could have reported her, and Moshi would never reveal who it was.
* Talking to your parents is important. Lori should have asked Mom and Dad before asking for a friend's telephone number online. They know that it's only OK to ask real life friends in person, and they could make sure it's OK with her friend's parents before Lori calls.
What other lessons do you think Lori learned from her experience? Post your best ideas and I'll choose some random Rox winners tomorrow! Yesterday's Random Rox winners are sliky7727
